The course aims to develop participants’ competence in understanding and speaking Mandarin ( putonghua ). This course is devised specifically for Cantonese speakers who are familiar with Chinese characters.

The core textbooks are Zoom In Mandarin Chinese for Beginner Book 1&2, published by Meridian Chinese Studies. Class size is limited to twelve to enable optimum student participation.

Course duration:   14 weeks, 28 hours 

Monday: starts on 23rd Jan 2012 from  6.45pm to 8.45pm

Saturday: starts on 11th Feb 2012 from 11.00am to 1.00pm

Fee: £199 for Monday class; £249 for Saturday class (in both class the tuition in the first 16 hours is free)

子午文院将在龙年，为广东人开设部分免费的普通话课程

中文普通话不仅是中国、台湾的官方语言，而且由于亚太地区经济实力的逐年增长，普通话成了世界上流行最快的语言。子午文院为了向社会推广中文普通话，专门设计了一个从龙年开始的普通话初级班课程。这个课程不但适合于以学习中文为目的的外国人，更适合于在英国生活的广东人，因为教材中提供了全套用拼音学习日常用语的课文与练习。全部课程为十四周共28小时，从2月11日星期六中午11点至下午1点开始。我们深知，经济衰退对每一个人的影响，为了减少学生的负担，这个课程的第一学期的前八周是免费的。

公益教育是子午文院多年来关注的事业，自2006年建院以来，我们经办了六期设在英国大学的公益中文普通话课程和十五期对英国社会的公益中文普通话课程。而且在文院组织的年度中国文化探旅中，我们动员大家向边区、穷区的小学捐赠教学用品达数万元。文院的宗旨是：以贫为荣，以诚为信。
